With Mardi Gras approaching faster than Marie Antoinette can fit one of her wigs, everyone who celebrates with the traditional fancy dress will probably be in a frenzy about which costumes they're going to wear. With such an abundance of costumes to choose from, it can be difficult to choose and it always seems so much easier to sort out the rest of the family than your own. Mardi Gras fancy dress is a great way to get your creative juices flowing and for those that don't want to stick to traditional, there is still a mass of themes to pick from, so let's take a look at some possibilities for the whole family and let's not forget our faithful four-legged friend, the dog!!

MARDI GRAS FANCY DRESS FOR THE BOYS - Lots of choices here with masks wigs and hats galore. The Wacky Jester will always be a fun hat with the younger male, but costumes like the Mardi Gras Buccaneer do well with those that prefer to swish a sword. For those that don't like to follow tradition there are of course, the much-loved traditional superhero costumes and, with the release of another film, Transformers are popular along with Spiderman, Batman, Robin and the Star Wars characters. Harry Potter is up there with Voldemort costumes and face mask, and not forgetting all the extras like Harry's scarf, glasses and wand, etc for the would-be magicians nor that wonderfully wizardly Professor Dumbledore with his fabulously long beard. For those that wish for the more darker costume, there are always plenty of choices with the classic vampire, ghoul, skeleton, zombie, werewolf, mummy, Dracula, Devil and dark messenger to name a few. Don't forget all those little extras like the fake blood and wounds, horns and the long fingernails, masks and wigs.

MARDI GRAS FANCY DRESS FOR THE GIRLS - If you want to be mysterious girls then choose from a spectacular range of masks from jewelled, diamante studded, and full and half faced. Multi coloured feathers are available if that's your bag. Whatever your choice you will look stunning till your unveiling at midnight. Fancy something a bit darker? There are some very pretty and glittery witches costumes that look terrific with (and without) green face paint, black lips or very deep red for a splash of colour and don't forget the pointed slippers. Then there is the gothic princess look, Tinkerbell and vampires. Again, for that extra special magic, add the face paint to complete a simply stunning outfit. A splash of glitter dabbed high on the cheek bones just finishes it off. As always, there's the everlasting cute look with such all-time favourites as Tinkerbell, princesses, Cinderella, Snow White and all manner of other Disney. Television stars Hannah Montana and GI Joe are also going to be hot favourites.
