What are some good costume ideas for a dachshund (wiener dog)?

August 5, 2009 · 16 comments

So far, I have:
Hot dog (too easy)
Missile

What other good ideas are there, and how would you make the costume?

Dressing your dog isn't cruelty as long as it does not hurt the dog, scare the dog, create a choking hazard, or make it overheat. You've got to have *some* sense of humor, people...

My Bostons make a great little herd of cows. *lol*

Let's see... He'd make a cute little dragonfly! Shiny green, soft, breatheable fabric, and light, plastic-framed wings. Or, along the same theme, a caterpillar!

Never dress up a dog. They already have a coat.

We were just talking about this last nite in regard to our mini daschie. Tie a barrel under the chin and your daschie can go as a St Bernard.

Please don’t put clothes or costumes on your dog. It’s cruel and should be illegal.

you could make him up to be the " Slinky " dog…you know? the toy that the little kids who are too young to play with REAL slinkys get?…

it has a dog’s head and behind ( you already have that part !.) ….and the middle is a " slinky " …it’s on wheels…and has a string so they can pull it behind them…..and when they pull it, well…it slinkys….

and, maybe you could use one of those aluminum dryer hoses to make the " Slinky " part?….

dress him up as a Zeppelin! Remember the Hindenburg?? Or a mini-limo!

How about making him a little Kaiser? You know, get one of those helmets with the pointy thingy on it.

making him look like a German Shepherd or a Rotty (too cute) OR attach wings and make him a jet. (his body is the fuselage) or make him Noah’s Ark.

There are tons of things you can make your wiener dog be besides a hot dog or missile.

I’d stick with the German theme though…….

I dressed my dachshund up as a wizard, but he ate the costume. I got the costume on sale at Old Navy when Halloween was over.
