Of course not - it's a lot of fun, for you and the dog who gets a lot of good attention and admiration.
Just make sure the costume is comfortable for your dog and doesn't restrict or bind him. I have dachshunds so I make sure all outfits velcro around their necks and chests so that their legs aren't restricted in any way.

I think it’s so adorable!

only if the dog does not enjoy it, or the costume is causing the dog any discomfort, such as being too hot, or restricting movement.
If your dog enjoys it and is comfortable, then I dont think its cruel.

Only if they don’t like it. Some dogs hate clothes but some honestly don’t care. =]

It is if the dog hates the process, but some dogs absolutely love the fuss and attention involved. I know a couple of little dogs who wear coats and jumpers throughout winter, and they both love having their little winter woolies put on. A costume, as long as it is comfortable, is really no different.
People just need to take their cue from their dog — if he’s happy to have a costume put on, go for it. If he’s not keen, it isn’t fair to push the issue.

no. just stupid.

Nope.
As long as it’s not frightening the dog, or the dog is uncomfortable, I don’t see how it’s gonna hurt them. It’s not like we are dressing them up everyday of the year like some.. *coughParisHiltonWannbescough* *cough* Excuse me..

Only if the costume is restricting and/or uncomfortable. My dog didn’t like it last year but i’ve had a year of introducing her to clothing (she has a jacket and rain coat) and i’m hoping this year she’ll tolerate it. If not, it’s no big.

it is if its a dog that loves to move, wiggle and run but if the dog likes to be held and is calm and doesn’t wiggle i don’t think it is bad.

Not unless they are really heavy, just light, bright colored jerseys would be cool.

it wud be to put my dog in a costume cuz she’s not comfortable with even a collar on! but if they’re willing to wear them i see no problem with it… and it’s adorable – especially dressing them in flying monkey wings!!

As long as the dog doesn’t mind, it’s fine.

As long as it’s easy to walk in, comfortable, not too hot, and the dog doesn’t mind then no, I don’t think it’s cruel, andI think it’s something cute to do. Besides it’s only for a day.
Maybe the dog’s pride will suffer. Depends on the costume. =P
I think a hot dog costume for a weiner dog is sooo cute, overused, but cute. =D Just a random note.

Well its not cruel except if it doesn’t like wearing things, but if it’s like fur over your dog it will most likely not move.

Once in a while it is ok to put clothes or costumes on a dog as long as it is not hurting them in any way or restricting movement. However, no dog should be made into a fashion accessory. No dog should be treated like a baby doll but still as a dog. I rarely put clothes on my miniature dachshund but when I do it’s for a rare occasion. It is not cruel, if it was then pet stores wouldn’t be selling them now would they?
